Three decades ago, on the 15th of September, we embarked on a remarkable journey that has led us to where we stand today as Østnes Helicopters. It all began in 1993 when our visionary founder, Kjell Arne Østnes, took that courageous first step, laying the foundation for what would become a pioneering force in the world of aviation.
At the dawn of our journey, we started as an Aerospatiale consultant in 1993 and evolved into an official agent of Aerospatiale in 1995. The year 2003 saw the birth of Østnes Aero AS, marking our transformation into a distributor of spare parts and components for what was then known as Eurocopter, the predecessor to Airbus Helicopters. By 2006, we had become the trusted distributor for Airbus Helicopters parts and services in the European Nordic Onshore market, solidifying our reputation for excellence.
In 2019, as part of our One Stop Shop (OSS) strategy, we acquired Dragonfly Helicopters, enabling us to provide customers with aircraft leasing and financial solutions. Then, in 2020, we achieved a significant milestone by proudly assuming the role of the Nordic distributor for new Airbus Helicopters. This same year, we established our Part145 facility at Eggemoen, Hønefoss, becoming an authorized Airbus Maintenance center and an approved Safran engine center. In 2021, we unveiled our innovative OSS concept and celebrated our first OSS customer. The year 2022 witnessed the relocation of our storehouse to Eggemoen and the construction of new offices for our dedicated support team.
In 2023, Østnes Aero achieved the prestigious status of being a Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO). This same year, we proudly entered into a strategic partnership with Tronrud Engineering AS to establish Eggemoen Heli Paint, our cutting-edge painting service center, further expanding our range of services.
