Press release EUROPEAN ROTORS 2022

Improve Your Operational Safety at EUROPEAN ROTORS 2022

This year’s programme includes training by safety expert Claude Vuichard and hands-on learning at the EASA Rotor Safety Zone.

Attendees heading to EUROPEAN ROTORS2022, 8–10 November in Cologne, Germany, can use their trip to the VTOL show and safety conference to focus on improving their operational safety.

The Vuichard Recovery Aviation Safety Foundation, founded by Swiss pilot Claude Vuichard, will be running two half-day training courses: one on the“Vuichard techniques,” a compilation of techniques that improve helicopter operational safety, and a second onhuman-factor accidents in Helicopter Operations.  He will also make a presentation on Safe Autorotations in Training and Operation on Stage 1.

Additionally, the EUROPEAN ROTORS exhibit floor will feature hands-on safety demonstrations at the EASA Rotor Safety Zone. With a Robinson R44 provided by German operator and maintenance and repair provider HELI-FLIGHT GmbH & Co.KG, attendees can practice their skills in pre-flight checks, power management, and passenger briefing and boarding. Trainers include representatives from HELI-FLIGHT, Balearic Helicopters from Mallorca, and Human Factors Consult in Germany.

Claude Vuichard began his pilot career in 1981 in Gruyere, Switzerland. He has logged over 16,000 flight hours and holds 15 different type ratings. He is the developer of the “Vuichard Recovery Technique,” a method of recovering from vortex ring state that produces minimal altitude loss. Today, the Vuichard Recovery Technique is included in the FAA’s Helicopter Flying Handbook as “the quickest exit” from vortex ring state and is taught all over the world. In 2018, Helicopter Association International named Vuichard as the recipient of their Salute to Excellence Safety Award, and he is active worldwide as a speaker, aviation consultant, and flight instructor.

An EASA maintenance organisation, HELI-FLIGHT is a distributor for all three Robinson product lines—the R22, R44, and the turbine-engine R66—and is an approved maintenance provider for all Robinson models and for the Airbus Dauphin series. The company is based at Reichelsheim, 30km north of Frankfurt.

EUROPEAN ROTORS will cover all mission types, including air ambulance and search-and-rescue, police and public safety, aerial work and disaster relief, passenger transport, and advanced air mobility. The event and conference also benefit from the strong support of industry leaders, including Airbus, Bell, Boeing, Leonardo, Pratt & Whitney, and Safran, among others.

EUROPEAN ROTORS, the VTOL show and safety conference, brings together every aspect of the rotorcraft industry in Europe, including operators, manufacturers and suppliers, and the European regulator, EASA. Organised by the European Helicopter Association (EHA) in cooperation with EASA, with services and project management provided by Helicopter Association International, the show is the most substantial trade event for the helicopter industry outside the USA. With three parallel conference streams and dedicated areas for eVTOL, autonomous operations, and other key future technologies, EUROPEAN ROTORS is the go-to event for rotorcraft manufacturers and suppliers, operators, service providers, and industry students and professionals.
