Sophrodyne Aerospace contributes cutting-edge expertise in rotorcraft interactional aerodynamics to the latest UK CAA report (CAP2576) on the downwash and outwash produced by eVTOL aircraft.
Sophrodyne Aerospace has recently completed a study into the downwash and outwash effects associated with a range of typical eVTOL aircraft configurations. The study highlights the complex nature of the aerodynamics of multi-rotor aircraft when operated close to the ground or in confined spaces.
Sophrodyne's work demonstrates how our prior knowledge, based largely on helicopter experience, needs to be augmented if the risks involved in operating eVTOL aircraft in urban areas are to be better understood.
