About us

The ideal real-life lab: At MGL, the prerequisites for manned/unmanned aircraft to interact with each other in regular operations have been developed and resiliently tested.

MGL scores points for its ICAO-compliant ground-/airside infrastructure and complex airspace with 47,000 movements per year.

In 2021, the first practical test with DFS Aviation Services and DRONIQ took place at MGL. The small-scale SkyCab, a Songbird drone, successfully flew around the city area with a stopover at Borussia Stadium – the cornerstone for a concept of operations.

In addition, MGL is developing training concepts for airtaxi pilots. A corresponding infrastructure is already provided by several flight schools at the site. In the future, MGL will continue its research in the areas of airspace integration and new means of propulsion.
