European Rotors 2020: Quotes from Industry, Politics, Associations and Agencies

Peter Möller, Chairman European Helicopter Association (EHA):

“I am proud to announce the launch of ‘EUROPEAN ROTORS’- The VTOL Show and Safety Conference, organised by EHA in cooperation with EASA and with the great support of all our Members, in particular, the commitment of the OEMs. EUROPEAN ROTORS marks an important milestone in our endeavours to promote the social and economic value of rotorcraft operations for the European society. This unique event will integrate the well-renown EASA Rotorcraft and VTOL Symposium alongside other conferences, workshops, training courses, and technical briefings. We will offer operators, manufacturers, Aviation Authorities, the supporting industry, mechanics, pilots, customers, suppliers, etc. the opportunity to network, to be informed on state of the art equipment and services, to discuss present and future regulations, to participate in dedicated training and to take a look at future technical solutions in the ROTARY and VTOL world. “If you are Rotors, we got it”!”

David Solar, Head of VTOL Department, European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA):

“Through our participation in EUROPEAN ROTORS, in collaboration with EHA, we are integrating our very successful and established Rotorcraft and VTOL Symposium to reach out to the broader industry, enabling better collaboration and mutual understanding to enhance the global aviation safety. We will also be offering additional training courses to leverage this unique forum for the Industry. Direct exchange with manufacturers, operators, ATOs, maintenance organisations will provide us with valuable 360° feedback for our work as a safety Authority as well as transparency for our stakeholders.”

Markus Greitemann, Commissioner of the City of Cologne for city development, construction and economy:

“We are very happy that we will be able to welcome companies with big names and that are real global players. This is of course great from the aspect of business development for the city and will attract a very international clientele. It’s also great to have EASA here as the international authority of the EU. The new show will allow us to further strengthen our aviation footprint for the city and the region. Cologne is in the heart of Europe, has a very good airport with many direct connections and is also easy to reach by (international) trains. And of course we hope that our international guests will also have time for a bit of culture outside of the show, with the cathedral and Kölsch beer being two examples!”

Bruno Even, Chief Excecutive Officer (CEO) Airbus Helicopters:

“Airbus Helicopters, as a member of EHA, strongly supports the initiative to have a European trade show, in partnership with EASA, and in line with the industry’s expectations – showcasing the innovation and technology that ensure high levels of safety for the men and women who fly our helicopters every day, and at the same time allows us to share our vision of the future of vertical flight. Meeting our customers’ operational requirements, through our products and associated support and services, is our key priority and EUROPEAN ROTORS presents an invaluable opportunity to meet with them and to listen to their current and future needs.”

Patrick Moulay, Bell senior vice president, Commercial Business – International:

“Bell is proud to support the new EUROPEAN ROTORS event launching in 2020 in Cologne, Germany. We thank the European Helicopter Association for bringing together the vertical lift industry and the aviation authorities to focus on the benefits and positive impact of helicopters on society, today and in the future. This event will be a driving force for the advancement of VTOL throughout Europe.”

Roberto Garavaglia, Leonardo Helicopters SVP strategy and innovation:

“Europe is the world’s largest helicopter market, a benchmark for other emerging economies enhancing their helicopter services or even introducing all new ones. All main applications are well represented, with operators requested to carry out their missions in several environments and weather conditions. Europe stays at the forefront of technological and regulatory innovation and OEMs are, by definition, a crucial element of such competitiveness. That is why Leonardo believes a new, strong dedicated exhibition is needed allowing all the relevant players to meet, assess the state of the industry and define the next steps. Leonardo will of course play its traditional key role showing advancements in product and service capabilities for all missions and supporting enhancements in regulations collaborating with the relevant authorities for increasingly safer and cost/effective operations, while working at leading rotorcraft technology into new eras.”

Franck Saudo, CEO of Safran Helicopter Engines:

“Safran wants the new EUROPEAN ROTORS show to be a powerful event for the European helicopter community and the general public. It is a unique opportunity to bring together actors within the helicopter and VTOL industries in the same location, centrally in Europe. Exhibitions, conferences, best-practice seminars and networking will make it an indispensable event; one in which Safran intends to have a growing stake.”

Andreas Löwenstein, CEO of Kopter:

“We highly support EUROPEAN ROTORS. European players in the helicopter sector are among the most dynamic and innovative. It is key that they benefit from a proper platform to share their new technologies and visions as well as to exchange on current and future challenges. The combination with the EASA rotorcraft symposium allows to bring closer industry and rule-makers, who need to work hand in hand for safer and sustainable operations.”
